Kings of War – Fantasy Battles Without the Fuss

We’ve been rolling dice and commanding mighty armies in Kings of War recently, and it’s been refreshing to get stuck into a fantasy mass-battle game that moves quickly and keeps the action flowing. Whether it’s Orc hordes clashing with Elf spear-lines or Undead surging across the battlefield, the epic scale always brings a smile.

Kings of War, by Mantic Games, is a rank-and-flank fantasy battle game designed for streamlined play. Units are treated as single blocks (no casualty removal!), which makes gameplay fast and visually clean. The game encourages tactical thinking, careful deployment and clever use of terrain.

First released in 2009, Kings of War was designed as an alternative to Warhammer Fantasy Battles. It has since grown into its own full-fledged system, now in its third edition with a robust competitive and narrative community. The game features dozens of unique factions and continues to grow with regular releases and tournaments.
