Warhammer 40k Narrative Crusade Campaign
The Echoes of Marnok
Above the ocean-world of Marnok Primus, storm-wracked skies churn with warp-static and fire. Once a prized jewel of the Imperium, home to the vital port-city of Mahona and the mysterious Vault Ginhold, this isolated world now finds itself teetering on the brink of catastrophe.
Rebellion brews in the highlands. Chaos cults rise in forgotten vaults. Ancient xenos ruins flicker with unwanted life. As the planetary conduit pulses with growing instability, the Imperium calls upon any force willing to bring order—or exploit the chaos for their own ends.
This is a campaign where narrative reigns, loyalty is tested, and every faction has a part to play. Welcome to The Echoes of Marnok.
A Crusade of Fire, Ruin and Echoes
The campaign begins in the aftermath of a failed pacification. Imperial command is stretched thin. The separatists of Redstone rise again. Ork spores, buried since the Ghazi Incursion, are awakening. The warp trembles—and the secrets of Marnok begin to surface.
Whether you serve the Imperium, walk the Path of the Xenos, or embrace the ruinous powers, your forces will have a place in the fate of this doomed world. From purging traitors in the mountain bastions to seizing control of the precious Gin-Star trade, your Crusade will leave its mark on Marnok Primus.

Ordo MARNOK PRIMUS Record
Situation 73a
Scouting pict-feeds confirm several Ork warbands retreating west from the Vortan Basin, regrouping into a single massive formation. Their movement brought them directly into the path of an Iron Warriors armoured column advancing to reinforce forces occupying the Sanctum of Saint Veridiana.
Initial contact was chaotic, with both sides exchanging heavy fire. The Iron Warriors formed defensive lines but were quickly engulfed as the Orks’ sheer numbers overwhelmed their flanks. Despite significant greenskin losses, the Iron Warriors were forced to withdraw in disarray, abandoning several vehicles and siege engines.
The Ork advance now appears directionless, with multiple splinter groups scattering across the western wastes.
Cross-References: Situation 63d (Iron Warriors at the Sanctum) and Situation 71b (Eldar engagement at the Vortan Basin).
Situation 71b
Long-range observation auspex and orbital pict-feeds confirm a major engagement between the xenos faction designated Eldar – Delta and multiple Ork warbands across the Vortan Basin, an industrial wasteland east of the Echo Ravines. The Orks, believed to have mobilised following several scattered skirmishes in the surrounding badlands, launched a full-scale assault utilising improvised vehicles, looted armour, and massed infantry waves.
The Eldar responded with disciplined precision, deploying Wraithguard formations to anchor their defensive line. Witness reports describe devastating plasma and distortion weaponry cutting through Ork ranks with surgical efficiency. Despite overwhelming numbers, the greenskin advance faltered against the unyielding automaton constructs and coordinated fire support from the Eldar’s skimmer elements.
After a prolonged and brutal exchange, the Ork forces broke formation and began retreating toward the western ridges. Eldar units maintained position, refusing pursuit, and instead began methodical cleansing operations across the battlefield, eliminating surviving Orks and dismantling their war machines.
The outcome is a clear Eldar victory, though sensor data indicates further Ork concentrations beyond the Basin. The motives behind the Eldar’s continued operations on Marnok remain unclear, though their defensive posture suggests they may be guarding more than territory.
Cross-References: Situation 42b (first confirmed Eldar activity) and Situation 57f (Eldar engagement with Blood Angels).
Situation 63d
Following the withdrawal recorded in Situation 57f, Blood Angels and attached Imperial Guard elements regrouped within the Sanctum of Saint Veridiana, an abandoned Imperial chapel complex situated in the Ghast Plateau. Believing the location to offer defensible ground and suitable cover for regrouping operations, the Imperials fortified the site’s outer approaches and began establishing a temporary command post.
Unbeknownst to them, the Iron Warriors warband operating in the region had already identified the Sanctum as a target of strategic interest. Auspex data recovered from crashed relay drones suggests the Traitors had been tracking the Imperial withdrawal, intending to reclaim artefacts or relics buried within the chapel’s lower crypts. Their assault came swiftly, with siege elements pressing the Blood Angels’ perimeter while infantry formations encircled the ruin.
Despite being outnumbered, the Blood Angels executed a disciplined defensive action, repelling repeated incursions and holding their position for several hours. Once the Iron Warriors breached the outer walls, the Astartes initiated a controlled withdrawal, ensuring the remaining Imperial Guard detachments could fall back to friendly lines. The Sanctum itself remains in enemy hands, with the Iron Warriors continuing excavation operations beneath the chapel floor.
Cross-References: Situation 42b (Iron Warriors activity) and Situation 57f (Blood Angels engagement with Eldar).
Situation 57f
Recon elements of the Blood Angels Chapter have engaged hostile contact while conducting an investigative sweep into reported Ork activity within the Ghast Plateau region. Instead of greenskin resistance, the Astartes encountered the xenos force previously designated as Unknown Eldar Faction – Delta. The engagement escalated rapidly, with the Eldar demonstrating superior manoeuvrability and advanced battlefield coordination. Despite the Blood Angels’ disciplined counterassault, the xenos achieved a clear tactical victory, forcing an orderly Astartes withdrawal. No confirmation of Ork presence was recorded during the encounter, though auspex traces suggest multiple forces may be operating in close proximity.
Cross-Reference: See also Situation 42b for earlier activity involving the same Eldar faction.
Situation 42b
Further clashes have been confirmed in the Echo Ravines between the previously unidentified xenos and a warband of Traitor Astartes. The spectral attackers have now been identified as Eldar warriors from an as-yet-unidentified Craftworld, exhibiting uncharacteristic levels of aggression. Opposing them were elements of the Iron Warriors, their heraldry clearly displayed upon armour and wargear. Reports state the Traitors were engaged in plundering ancient ruins, securing several artefacts or resources of unknown designation before being forced to withdraw under sustained Eldar assault. The xenos pursued with precision and intensity, ensuring the Iron Warriors could not consolidate their spoils. The nature of both the ruins and the resources taken remains under investigation.
Situation 42a
Patrols in the Echo Ravines have intercepted disturbing reports of hostile contact with an unidentified force. Chaos elements clashed with what survivors describe as “swift, spectral attackers” of unknown origin. Engagement lasted mere minutes before the unidentified host vanished into the ravines, leaving significant losses among the Chaos warband. Administratum scribes classify the encounter as Xenos-Delta until further confirmation can be established. At present, the true identity of these “unknown contacts” remains unclear.
Situation 31c
Reconnaissance from Solarion Bastion confirms hostile contact in the western approaches to the Redstone Reaches. A contingent of Black Templars, deployed for planetary defence exercises alongside Guard regiments, has engaged with a Chaos warband attempting to push inland. Despite the Astartes’ rapid response, vox-chatter indicates heavy resistance. Casualty levels remain unverified, but the enemy shows clear signs of entrenchment, suggesting a wider campaign is being staged from hidden strongholds.
Situation 26b
Scouting reports and Orbital relays have confirmed an encounter upon the ‘Wrecklands of the Ghazi’ between what we believe is a scattering of Ork Encampments and a possible Traitor force that may have snuck planetside upon the southern regions. The current situation has meant fewer resources to the Ork Hunter teams, which has allowed several large groups to form. Worryingly, reports state the Orks managed to halt the advancing Traitor forces.
