The next chapter of Warhammer 40,000 is almost here.

Games Workshop has officially revealed Warhammer 40,000 11th Edition, bringing a new set of rules, updated mechanics, and a fresh focus on the battlefields of the 41st Millennium. As with every new edition, excitement is building across the hobby as players begin exploring what the changes might mean for their armies.
At Barnsley Association of Tabletop Gamers, we're looking forward to getting the new edition onto the table and seeing how it plays in practice.
What Is Changing in 11th Edition?

While every new edition brings changes, Warhammer 40,000 11th Edition appears to be more of an evolution than a complete reinvention.
Many of the core mechanics that players became familiar with during 10th Edition remain in place. Army building, objectives, movement, shooting, and combat will still feel familiar to existing players, while new rules aim to improve balance, terrain interaction, and overall gameplay flow.
The result should be a game that remains recognisably Warhammer 40,000 while introducing fresh tactical opportunities for veteran and new players alike.
A Great Time to Start Playing
New editions often attract players back to the hobby, and 11th Edition looks set to be no different.
Whether you have an army gathering dust on a shelf, have been considering starting a force for the first time, or simply want to see what all the excitement is about, a new edition provides a perfect opportunity to jump in.
One of the biggest strengths of the Warhammer 40,000 community is the willingness of players to help each other learn. At BATG, there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions, learn the rules, and get games organised.
Still Playing 10th Edition? That's Fine Too
While many members are looking forward to trying 11th Edition, we know that not everyone moves to a new ruleset immediately.
Some players may wish to continue playing 10th Edition for a while, and that's absolutely fine.
One of the benefits of being part of a diverse gaming club is that members can organise games that suit their preferred ruleset. Whether you are excited to try the latest edition or would rather continue enjoying the game you've already invested time learning, there will be opportunities to find opponents and enjoy your hobby.
At BATG, the focus has always been on getting games played and helping people enjoy the hobby.
The Future of Warhammer 40,000 at BATG

New editions bring fresh discussion, new army ideas, and plenty of opportunities to get miniatures onto the tabletop.
Over the coming months, members will be exploring the new rules, testing armies, and sharing their experiences with 11th Edition. We expect plenty of exciting battles, tactical discussions, and no doubt a few surprises along the way.
Whether you're a long-time veteran of the 41st Millennium or completely new to Warhammer 40,000, there's never been a better time to get involved.
If you're interested in playing Warhammer 40,000, whether in 10th Edition or the new 11th Edition, come and join us at Barnsley Association of Tabletop Gamers and get involved in the action.
